From December 2025 to March 2026, The Margery Kempe Trust transformed one of the empty containers on Purfleet Street into a temporary public writing and reading installation called Slow You Down in the Purfleet Story Pod.

This project made the often-private acts of writing and reading visible to create an engaging and thought-provoking cultural installation that sparked conversation, and brought literature and creativity onto the street, making it visible, accessible, and interactive for everyone.

Slow You Down invited people to slow down at a busy time of year and think about what creative activities inspire them.

TMKT stopped this temporary installation in March 2026 after engaging hundreds of passers-by.
